Transmission Failure

Driving the GTs tonight when I heard a high pitched noise, and got a notice of "transmission malfunction." Car popped into neutral, but couldn't even roll forward after the notice. Had to get the car towed tonight :'(

Anyone else have this happen? We'll see what I hear from the dealer tomorrow.

Car has 1100 miles, basically brand new. Bought it about 4 months ago, just been driving around town, and was not driving it hard when malfunction notice came up. Until last night I had absolutely no problems with it. Funnily enough, another guy in my city with a GTs stopped when he saw us on the side of the road, asking what was up. Even though the car was busted, looked good having a blue one and a grey one next to each other! Haha. Trying to stay lighthearted about the whole thing b/c it's definitely still under warranty and nobody was hurt. Even though before the cop showed up there were a couple of cars that almost hit it parked in the street because even in neutral we couldn't push it to the next turn! Was relieved when an Officer showed up and put out a flare. Almost watched someone not paying attention smack into it before that.

That would have been horrendous, glad you and the car are in safe hands now. That's really unfortunate and inconvenient though man

Was told today that it looks like the drive shaft has separated, and that they've taken photos and are sending them to Germany. Sounds like it's going to be a long time before I get the car back...

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but get ready for a recall guys. Dealer told me that once Germany ships over enough of the parts they'll announce it, but who knows how long that'll be. Supposed to get my car back Friday.

Thanks for the update
Sorry to hear about the bad news on your failed transmission but good news that it's coming back soon.
MB should do the right thing and recall cars that have an issue and fix it right. Not fun but better than an engine swap on a GT3.

On the one hand, sucks that the transmission failed but on the other hand they're going to enact a recall to fix the problem at no cost to you. Maybe they can reimburse you the towing fee too if applicable.
