Mercedes-AMG Planning V12 Hybrid Halo Car

AutoBlog reports that Mercedes-AMG is developing a successor to the SLS AMG. This vehicle will use a 12-cylinder engine that is mated to an electric motor and battery pack. This vehicle will aim to deliver peak performance and decent fuel economy.

We don't have a timeline for the release of this new halo car, but we can assume that it is several years away still.

So this is going to compete with the i8 and the NSX I guess.

Probably what's going to use the same V12 found in the Huayra and S65 models. Good for Pagani since they depend on MB for the V12.

And BMW is working with Lexus on the next LFA. So it seems like everyone is working on their thing at the same time. we will have to see what ends up happening with them all. I think that though these are obviously very low volume cars, the prestige that the brand gets from theirs beating the others is quite valuable.

More than likely its a partial test bed for something production.

Exciting to see what comes of this.

Something that would sit above the AMG GT? That I would like to see.

It will be hard for Lexus and BMW to beat the AMG GT.
Just found a video of the AMG GT beating the Lexus RC F in a straight line race.

But the Lexus RC F was always going to lose that. It is heavy, and its not bad, but its also not that great.Definitely more about the brand than it is about pure performance.

BMW can definitely compete though. It has great hybrid technology going on in its 'i' division.
