Love Your Mercedes-AMG GT R? There’s A Matching Bike
Branded merchandise is nothing new to luxury automobile companies and Mercedes thinks an AMG GT R inspired carbon fiber bike is just the thing you need to go with your supercar. In celebration of their 50th anniversary, Mercedes-AMG is releasing a Rotwild R.S2 Limited Edition racing bike.
Also dubbed a "Beast of the Green ****", the bike is said to combine “the best of the racing world on four and on two wheels: driving dynamics, lightweight construction, design, and comfort.”
Each one is hand-built and no detail was spared. Even the frame has a laundry list of features including "Carbon Module Monocoque Technology" (MMT2) and "High Modulus" and "High Tenacity" fibresto. All this combined to drastically reduce the bike’s weight and increase rigidity. But what’s a Mercedes badged product without outstanding comfort and the uniquely shaped seat delivers just that on long rides.
Of course this all sounds quite appealing, especially when only 50 examples are to be built. But the €7,109 ($8,259) price tag may make some AMG fans hesitate. Perhaps they could have priced it more reasonably, but the number itself is significant to the Mercedes-AMG GT R. That price is actually the vehicle’s Nurburgring lap time of 7 minutes and 10.9 seconds.
Its too bad that if people actually buy these, seeing one will be rare and even if you see one, what are the odds its being used as a bike and not just for display? You'd be surprised by how many people keep things like this and even the car it shares DNA with as just a garage queen.
