Mercedes Released Official AMG GT Sedan Images Ahead Of Geneva
Mercedes has taken upon themselves to release official photos of the new AMG GT four-door that’s set to debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show this March. Still under camouflage, this vehicle is one of many that has been driven "all over the world".
Like its body, much of the AMG GT Sedan is still under wraps though Autocar suspects what we’re seeing is the standard GT four-door model. Before the official photos were released, their spy photographers managed to take some pictures of a test mule sporting a fixed rear wing.
These wings are usually reserved for AMG’s range-topping models like the Black Series or R variants. Perhaps this is indicative of a future GT four-door model featuring a R badge. Speaking with Mercedes engineers, Autocar was told that an even more performance oriented version was in the works with a rumored hybrid V8 powertrain capable of delivering more than 800bhp.
In the meantime, we have the standard AMG GT to look forward to. The spy shots reveal a Panamericana grille along with a low roof, slim horizontal taillights, and a hatch-like cargo door. Engine offerings are still unknown, but we are expecting to see a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 option, similar to what you’d find in the coupe.
