GT vs i8

visually compared http://www.bmwblog.com/2015/08/19/me...i8-comparison/

Quote:
BMW i8: From $299,000 plus on-road costs. 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbo/electric motor; 266kW/570Nm; six-speed automatic; 2.1 liters per 100km; AWD.

Mercedes AMG GT S: From $295,000 plus on-road costs. 4.0-litre V8, twin turbochargers; 375kW/650Nm; 7-speed dual-clutch, 9.4 liters per 100km; RWD.

The Aussies looked at the two cars from a value, design and driving dynamics perspective, and here is what they concluded.

Verdict

BMW: Very probably the future of high performance cars and proof that the hybrid is more than the stop-gap many thought it would be.

AMG: Big, brawny, take-no-prisoners coupe that stirs the soul. Doesn’t feel like a science experiment which, at this money, is crucial.

Winner: AMG

I kinda agree. I appreciate the i8 and what they are doing there. I also prefer the interior of the i8 to that of the AMG. The i8 is interesting but in a way that people are drawn to it because they are wondering "what is that?!" With the AMG people are drawn in because they think "oh, that's beautiful."

The i8 has a more sleek and sporty design that does draw me in because of it's curves but when I compare them both for performance based on their aesthetics I would choose the GT. Something about it's angular lines makes it look more muscular.

i too considered the I8, love the outside, inside is awful to me..way too futuristic, more like a space ship. I'm not into futuristic things...love those doors though. don't like the fake sounds. The AMG is the real deal...sound and all.

I actually think that the Benz interior is more complex than the BMW. BMW has a simpler design going on there. It's funny because the exterior of the two cars are the opposite.

This comparsion makes me more thankful of sticking with the AMG GT, don't like the i8 nearly as much. The direction MB has taken with design is my favorite yet, no matter what segment.
